break--its a chance to earn some cash with a job. but as jen samp explains-- work is harder to come by in new mexico and the summer-job market is getting competitive. high school graduate and basketball standout connor gorman is in the real world now--and is finding job hunting is anything but a game. he has been applying for summer jobs for the past month. "it's the game of reality" you would think job interviews are a slam dunk.... but so far it's been a miss. i haven't had much luck but still being optimistic about it and hopefully something will come around the corner. connor isnt alone. a spokesperson with "new mexico workforce connections" says thousands of high school and college students are entering a tough market this summer. there are fewer enrty level jobs available compared to last year. "When summer comes around many students, like the ones at unm apply for jobs. Many of those job applications end up here at the Frontier Restaurant, but managers say they often have to turn people away." I've come in with a resume. connor says he's not going to give up. "things could change on a dime much like a basketball game." because you'll never get a shot-- if you dont try...jen samp kob ewn4 the new mexico work force connection has a program that offers help for anyone in their teens through their twenties struggling to find a job. you can find their information on our website at kob dot com. just click
