Video: Google Glass Update Brings Access To All Your Phone Contacts
Google has updated its Glass software, letting you access all of your phone's contacts (as opposed to only 10) on Glass. The top 20 contacts are now available by voice, while the rest can be accessed by swiping. Other changes include a new way to choose how you message a contact — tap one, and you can switch between an email, SMS or Hangouts. Android users will be able to use this new functionality as soon as they get the latest Glass update.

Video: U.S. Retail Sales Flat In July, Autos Fall For Second Straight Month
U.S. retail sales were unexpectedly flat in July, pointing to some loss of momentum in the economy early in the third quarter. The Commerce Department said on Wednesday retail sales, which had increased 0.2 percent in June, were held back by a second straight month of declines in receipts at auto dealers, as well as weak sales of furniture and electronics and appliances. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast retail sales, which account for a third of consumer spending, increasing 0.2 percent last month. Core sales rose by a revised 0.5 percent in June.

According to government data, as spending got slammed by a tax raise that kicked in from April, the Japanese economy shrank during the second quarter, at an annual pace of 6.8 percent. Japan's gross domestic product, or the total output of goods and services, contracted 1.7 percent during the April-June period from the previous quarter. The results released Wednesday had been expected because the consumption-tax raise has weighed on spending.

Zynga Inc on Thursday reported unexpectedly weaker second-quarter bookings, and slashed its 2014 forecast after saying it had delayed several games including a revamped version of "Zynga Poker." Shares in the San Francisco-based mobile gaming company, known for the "FarmVille" game, were down 9 percent in after-hours trading on the Nasdaq after ending Thursday's session up 13 cents at $2.92.
